DENTAL CLINIC
WORK AT THE SCHOOL CASES OF NEGLECT The first monthly report from the local dental nurse who is operating in the new School Dental Clinic, has now been made available to the committee. As Nurse Quigley did not start until the month was somewhat advanced and as the preliminary work entailed a day or two's preparation the returns arc not to be regarded as those of a normal month. Forty new pupils were examined and were listed in the register. In practically all cases, it was evident that the children had never at any time received dental treatment, and the average mouth was far from satisfactory. Details of the report are as under: Total attendances 85, total operations 108. No permanent teeth were extracted though it was necessary to remove 37 deciduous teeth. Sixteen fillings in deciduous were necessary (4 simple, 10 compound and 2 cement). There were thirteen silver amalgam fillings made in permanent teeth (9 simple and 4 com-, pound). All patients were from Wha Uatane school.
