NEW NUMBER PLATES

"WHITE NUMERALS ON REDI CHANGE IN LICENCE FORMS The colours of the new regulation plates for cars will be white numerals on a "Venetian" reel background, according to advice received from the Commissioner of Transport. If it is conveniently possible, continued the letter, it is suggested to local bodies that drivers' licences be printed in red on white paper. It is also proposed to provide that the licence be compact in arrangement and on reasonably durable paper or similar material to withstand wear and folding. The provisions are intended not to interfere with the council's reasonable discretion in the purchase of suitable forms.
