NEW NOXIOUS WEED

SERIOUS VIEW TAKEN A serious view of the possible menace of tlie noxious weed, Vipeis eugloss, cchium vulgare, which has been discovered flourishing at Waha roa, was taken by members of the Piako County Council at the la&t monthly meeting. Previously, it was reported that the weed, once it was established, would be even more deadly than ragwort. Illustrating how quickly the weed grew, the county clerk, Mr F. I. Clarke, exhibited a plant at the meeting, which he pointed out had been cut by a hay mowcv leccntly. The plant, he said, had spread to double the size in a very j short period, since it had been cut.
