CATS IN THE CASE
Recently it w r as reported that a litter of ten week's old kittens had been found alive and quite well in a case of machinery sent from Lancashire to Australia. As the case was securely and completely closed when the machinery was packed it was curious and puzzling to know how the young cats managed to get into the case, where was the mother cat, and how the young ones had survived and thrived during ten weeks. It was disclosed a few days ago that the new-born kittens w 7 ere being fed by the parent about the time the case was closed at the Lancashire factory. She was left behind, and it is thought that the kittens managed to live by eating the grease on the machinery. A similar instance was reported only two or three months ago from an aircraft factory in Australia. Only when a completed machine was being wheeled on to the aerodrome was it discovered that a cat and her kittens had been built into 1 the wing stump.
