MEETING OF BAY OF PLENTY UNION DRAW FOR SHIELD MATCHES The annual general meeting of the Bay of Plenty Rugby Union was held in Whakatane. After the bal-> ance sheet had been read and approved and the Chairman's report adopted, the following officers were elected for the coming year:— Patron: Mr Burt. Vice-Patron: Mr Les Clarke. Burt* F. Peebles, L. Clarke, J. Guinness, Maori Representative: Mr T. Anderson. Selectors: Messrs A. Spratt, French and Burrett. Delegates to N.Z. Rugby Union: Messrs Guinness and Henderson. Hurinui-Apanui Shield. The draw for the Hurinui-Apanui Shield resulted in Rangitaiki (holders) meeting Rotorua (challengers) in the first match. Then Tauranga play the winners; then in rotation Galatea, Te Puke, Whakatane, Opotiki and Apanui. In regard to representative games, the union considered that it might be possible to make a tour this season, playing Auckland, Whangarei, Poverty Bay, King Country and Thames Valley. In any case, a trial match, East v West, would be held early in the season to assist the selectors in making their choice. An alteration had been made to! the Shalfoon Shield rules, to allow visiting teams 2s a mile with a maxi mum of £5, 50 per cent of which would be refundable by the Baj'" Union. The school'football grant had been placed again at £42, and it had been decided to make application to the New Zealand Union for a grant of £25 per annum towards the Primary Schools' tournament. The Referees' Association was granted £10. WHAKATANE STAR SENIORS The following players will represent Whakatane Star Seniors in the match against Taneatua on Saturday:— Raynor, Oswald, Rowson, M. Armstrong, D. Morpeth, List. Jackson. Stewart, Lindon, Dennehy, W. Howat, Winningdon, D. Wilson, Henry, Robson, G. Kernot.
