INTERESTING FACTS
GLEANED FROM THE CONFERENCE Among the facts of interest to the public in general and the dairy farmers in particular which were revealed at the ward conference of the Dairy Board on Tuesday, was that until German hostilities caused a cancellation of trade with Denmark, Danish butter was selling in Britain at 150s per cwt. At the same time Dutch butter was fetching 144s and that of New Zealand 112s 6d per cwt. The prices were sterling and in New Zealand currency the Dominion's produce was bringing between 139s and 140s. During the discussion on the grow ing use by the British public of the substitute known as margarine, it was stated that when war broke out Britain had three years' supply of whale oil on hand for the manufacture of margarine.
