"BEACON" IN EGYPT
RUSHED BY THE 'BOYS' MESSAGE OF APPRECIATION Writing from Egypt where the men of the First Echelon are now 1 in training, Major Frank Prideaux conveys his thanks and appreciation to the management of the BEACON, for sending special copies of the paper to the boys from the Whakatane district. Major Prideaux states that the men rush the paper and read every line of it. When there are not sufficient copies to go round the men eagerly await their turn and devour all the news from home. Readers may not be aware that ever since the departure of the troops overseas, the company has sent to their O.C. a bundle of local papers for distribution. It is the intention in future to maintain this practice by forwarding similar quantities of all issues to the men of each contingent leaving Whakatane.
