DEMAND DWINDLES
APPLICATIONS FOR LABOUR! 4B SCHEME FILLED Although the demand for workers in the State Forest Service has been constant since the outbreak of war, it is reported by the Placement Officer for the Bay of Plenty, Mr L. H. Armstrong, that the demand has now dwindled. The enlistment of many workers from the schemes under the control of the Lands and Survey Department has increased the demand there, but in other respects there has been little abnormal demand for workers in the district. It is expected, however, that there will be a number of openings for bushmen and mill workers in the near future. Mr Armstrong stated that all the applications for workers under the 4B scheme of contracts had been filled.
