PLANT INSTALLED NEAR I GISBORNE SINKING > TEST WELLS Following upon geological and geophysical surveys extending over 20 months in the Taranaki province, several areas in which petroleum, might be expected to accumulate have been located. One of these structures, the existence of which; had been disclosed by the employment of a seismograph method of survey, has feeen selected for drilling tests. This structure is located at. Millhurst, three-quarters of a mile west of the toAvn. A heavy drilling plant* powered by a Diesel engine, has been imported from California to drill this area, and other sites. This plant is being assembled now at the site and it is expected that the drilling will commence in the later part of May. The plant is capable of drilling to a depth exceeding 10,000 ft. The company is sinking its second test wells at Mourere. The heavy plant formerly employed at Totangi is being used, and the well-started on February 12 has been sunk to. 1090 feet. - ,
