MONTHLY MEETING
OPOTIKI HOSPITAL BOARD MATTERS DEALT WITH The monthly meeting of the Opotiki Hospital Board was held on Friday afternoon. Present: Mr S. Maxwell (chairman) and Messrs J. D. Clark, E. J. Baigent, J. McDonnell, G. S. Moody, G. J. Neilson, S. Shalfoon. Mr J. A. T. Henry (secretary) and Dr G. James (superintendent) were also in attendance. Mr Nisbett enclosed an account for £5 5s for the use of his car in connection with the recent Motu epidemic. Mr H. L. Twistleton also forAvarded a claim amounting to £9 18s 4d for mileage and medicine in connection with the same outbreak. The chairman read the rules which stated that no claims could be made against a board for any failure on the part of the board. The chairman said that the Audit Department would not permit any payment being made. It was decided to reply to the claimants quoting the section, and expressing the board's sympathy. The medical superintendent's and matron's reports were approved. It was resolved to w-rite to the captain of the m.v. Waiotahi thanking him for fish supplied to the hospital. The chairman said that it w 7 as con sidered that out-patients' fees for X-ray w r as excessive. The superintendent said that the biggest cost was the films w 7 hich varied according to the part of the body. He then read a scale of charges which he had prepared ranging from 10s 6d to £3 3s. The board decided to adopt the scale suggested. Accounts amounting to £775 w T ere passed for payment.
