Eclipse of the Sun. An annular eclipse of the sun j took place this morning but it was not seen in Whalcatane as the eclipse occurred just before sun rise. It was expected that residents of the northern portion of New Zealand would catch a glimpse of the last notch of obscuration as the sun ' rose.
