WHAKATANE CLUB SEASON OFFICIALLY OPENED There was an exceptionally good attendance of members and visitors at the links on Saturday when the season for the Wliakatane (ioli Club was officially opened by the President, Mr L. Luxton, who drov the lirst ball. In his address Mr Luxton refern d to the death of the lit. Hon. Mr Savage and said lie was sure I hat the members agreed with the action of the committee in deferring the 26th annual opening for one week. "Having played your rounds," said Mr Luxton, "I am sure you will be satisfied with the course. The greens are showing the benefit of the water supply installed towards the close of last season." Mr Luxton added that thanks were due to all who had assisted with the preparation of the coarse and especially to Mr F. I], Reynolds, who hful sent men to mow the groertN nnd top-dress the fairway. As winners of the day's competition, Miss Henderson and Mr Molgaard were presented \vi tli trophies and Mrs Armstrong and Mr Cradwick were also recipients.
