WEDDING BELLS GRANT-LAMBERT A quiet but charming wedding took place on Thursday, March 2lst at the Presbyterian Church, Edgecumbe, when Miss Margaret Eliza- ! both Lambert, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs E. Lambert, of Te Tcko, was married to Mr Kenneth David Grant, elder son of Mrs Grant, and the late Mr Grant, Lower Hutt, Wellington. Rev. J. G. Laughton officiated and Mrs E. Goodwin played the wedding music. The Church had been decorated for the occasion by the friends of the and bridegroom. The bride, who was given away j by her father,, was gowned in a frock of embossed romaine in a shade of old rose, prettily shirred on the bodice and -with a sunray skirt. Over this was worn a woollen gored coat in the same shade. Nigger brown shoes, hat and other accessories completed a charming outfit. A bouquet of dahlias to tone and maidenhair fern was carried. The bride was attended by Miss Helen Grant, sister of the bridegroom, who wore a sky-blue angora suit,, with accessories in a mu berry shade. She carried a bouquet of blue delphiniums and pink veVbera. Mr Roy Lambert, brother of the bride, attended as best man. After the ceremony a reception for relatives and close friends was held at the bride's home. Te Tcko. Mrs Lambert received her guests wearing a navy and white figured sheer frock with navy accessories and fur. She wore a shoulder spray of pastel tinted rosebuds. Mrs Lambert was assisted by Mrs Grant Avho wore a navy costume and carried a posy of red dahlias. - The happy couple were the reIcipients of many beautiful presents the tokens of the esteem and high regard in which they arc held by their many friends. REID - RUFF A vo ry elegant and charming wedding was solemnised in theWaimana Church last Wednesday, when Gertrude May. elder daughter of Mr and J\frs A. W. Ruff, Nukuliou North, became the bride of Gunner Wesley Blain Re id, only son of Mr and Mrs G. Reid, Opotiki. The church had been artistically decorated by friends of the bride, in • softly-shaded (lowers, forming a Moral background. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Stewart of Taneatua. ... The bride, who was given away by her lather* looked a picture of charm and elegance in a gorgeous gown of satin finished Swiss cut on classical lines. A fitting bodice was designed with a high corsage and a belt of matching taffeta in corsage style finished with silver drops. The sleeves, which were accentuated at the top, were terminated to a point over the hand. Her graceful skirt fitted closely at the hips and fell into soft folds to sweep into a long train. A beautiful high halo of orange blossom, held in place an exquisitely embroidered tulle veil, which formed a long filmy train. A bouquet of white lilies, asters, I'ily of the valley and pink belladonna lilies intermingled with maidenhair fern., was carried together with a black cat mounted on a silver horse shoe, suspended on two white ribbons. The page boy, Master Michael Ruff, was- dressed in long bottlegreen velvet trousers and erin green frilled tunic, with black patent shoes. He carried the bride's veil on entering and leaving the church. The bride was attended by two bridesmaids, Miss Amy Ruff, sister of the bride.. and Miss Peg Reid, a sister of the bridegroom. They were attired alike in erin green taffeta frocks with high cowel necklines and short, fitting sleeves. The slim fitting, graceful moving and long flared skirts looked elegant in their simple charm. A spray of green rosebuds was worn on the front of each frock together with
a green-shaded necklace. An attractive head-dress of two green roses edged with a lighter shade of green pleated tulle was worn by both maids. They carried bouquets of cycl'amcn pom-pom dahlias, sweet j peas and gypsophila, together with asparagus fern. Mr lan Ruff accompanied the groom as best man, and Mr John Ruff as groomsman. After the ceremony a delightful reception was held in the Wa'.mana Hall where tho wedding breakfast was served on tables decorated with
delicately coloured flowers. A handsome two-tiered ivory cake formed an effective centre-piece on the table of the bridal party. Mrs Ruff, mother of the bride, received her guests wearing a smart frock of navy flat crepe with a set of furs and navy accessories. She carried a dainty posy of pastel-' shaded rosebuds tied with matching ribbons. The bridegroom's mother, i Mrs Reid, was frocked in bro'f n sheer georgette, trimmed with flariie coloured sheer. She wore brown accessories and carried a posy of autumn tinted flowers. Later the happy couple left for! Wellington, tiie bride choosing as her travelling outfit a navy American model gold-trimmed frock, made with a bustle Hsr smart navy hat had bunehe:! ribbons at the back to give a matching effect to the frock, and she wore navy shoes, •with matching bag and gloves. She carried a tailored coat of navy with a neat red and white stripe.
