BATTLE HONOURS
RECORD OF ACHILLES Since the year 1744, ten British warships have borne the name Achilles. The honours earned by the predecessors of Achilles are carried on a scroll which can be seen above the quarter deck of the prel- - ship of that name. They read as follows: Belle Island 1761 Trafalgar 1805 Walcheren 1809 Egypt 1882 Destruction of Graf Spee ... 1939 The latter honour has been added since the victory of Achilles,, Ajax and Exeter over Graf Spee at the River Plate battle last December,
