WHAKATANE CLUB WEEK-END TOURNAMENT The Whakatane Bowling Club was at home over the week-end to teams from Rotorua, Tauranga South, Te Puke, Taneatua and Opotiki Citizens. The games were played in brilliant weather and the greens were in first class order. The winner of A section was Whakatane, Henderson, Black, C. Hollis, Hooper (s), with, seven wins and B section went to Tauranga South, Cunningham, Fleming, Peacock, Simcoclc (s), with seven wins. I The latter won in the play-off after a close game, 6-4. Results of section play were: — A section: Hayward 2 wins, Hooper 7, Loane 4, Luxton 3%, Chamberlain 3, Budd (Rotorua) 3, Wilson (Taneatua) 4, Spratt (Te Puke) 414, -Jephson (Opotiki Citizens) •'>. 13 section: Marsh 5 wins, Burgess 4, Bell 2, Baxter 4 (Whakatane): Simcock (Tauranga South) 7, Hunt 6%, Moody (Taneatua) 2, Palmer (Te Puke) 4%. The Championship Singles resulted in a win for Hooper. Hooper and Loane playing off the final. This entitles Hooper to compete with the champions of other clubs for the Championship of the Bay of Plenty Centre. The Junior Championship has reached the semi-finals with Nicholson (2 lifer) and Henderson, Bull ard and Bigelow (1 lifers). On Easier Monday a pairs tournament was held on the looal greens, 30 players participating. L. Luxton won the skips section while F. Hollis Avon the leads after a play off with G. Hyland.
