PROSPECTS FOR OHOPE

Whatever the experience of those who in the past have sought to forward the interests of Ohope beach as a resort, the new movement which embodies the interests of the Ratepayers' Association and the Progress League can be calculated to do more and go further than it was possible, under the dual heading of two antagonistic bodies. Last Evening's meeting of the new Ratepayers and Progress League, indicated that there was a definite body of persons who were pledged to the advancement of the beach. The proposals and suggestions put forward were constructive and encouraging. There was a, genuine attempt to control the beach,, and to make the best of its amenities. The fact that thousands, annually visit the spot, and that still thousands more will do so in years to come, makes it imperative to have certain restrictions, and a controlling body on the spot can be calculated to be best qualified to attend to the immediate necessities and to put forward propositions for the information and guidance of the County Council.
