Enjoyment's second at Pukekohe and double Avin at Tauranga merit support Avhile Jewelled Girdle AA'ill not be out of ' Midland disappointed at Ellerslie, but a double at Paeroa will be remembered by punters. Royal Abb Avon over country at Ellerslie 'and avlll not be neg lceted. Bachelor King uoav meets Enjoyment on 151bs better terms than AA r hen lie easily defeated him at Pukekohe, and on that score, appeals as the more llikely of She tAvo. ; Chikara is on the improveand has Avon on the course previously. Aintree is very likely but the time for the St. Heliers Hurdles, in AA r hich he AA r as second to Baldric, Avas 1 4/5 seconds sloAver than that recorded by Midland at Paeroa, Avhere the going A\ r as not so good. Orient and Right Royal appeal most of the others but public fancies on the day may include Bachelor King Midland Right Royal 12.29— ROSEBANK HANDICAP Of £200; 7 fur. Mercury Bay 9.0; Loch Acre 8.10; British Talent 8.7; Cheval de Volee Lapidarian 5.5; Whenua,. Mercury Bay should go well but will have to contend with other improvers in Loch Acre and Elsquire. British Talent and Whenua also are capable and added interest will be given by the appearance of Kingcraft, Commemoration and Maioro. The issue willl rest with those named with preference probably shown for Loch Acre Mercury Bay Esquire 1.12— CHEVALIER HANDICAP Of £225; 6 fur Merry Vaals 9.8; Estro 9.2; Odtaa 9.0; Sir Robin 8.12; Pasture 8.9; Sehvyn, Hunter's Night 8.8; Gold Wings 8.7; LlandafT, Biddy Girl 8.3; Veritable, British Banner, Teilsoin 8.2; Sir Tommy, Star Vaals 18.1; Fairfield 8.0; Valerian 7.12: May fair 7.9; Miss Bridge, Lady | Acushla, Orally, Tane Mahatu, Tav- ! ern Song, Pantheist, Bronze Emerald 7.7. This is a race where the punters can consider themselves lucky to pick a placed horse. The topweight may find it diiri-ci.ilt in this fiel.il, and may be held by some of those lo\v ( er in the scale. Estro. Odtaa, in fact, all appear as likely and it would be easier to pick out those least likely to be accorded support. Favourites on the day may lie Odtaa LlandafF Tellsom I
2.0— FOLEY MEMORIAL HDCP Of £500; 1 mile 3 furs. Royal Appellant 8.11; Yogi 8.10; Proud Fox 8.7; Gold Vaals 8.1; Bronwen 8.1; Jack Tar 8.0; Pocket Venus 7.13; Mintlaw 7.9; Kena 7.7; Te Kawiti 7.5; Fox sen 7.2; Susan, Blonde Princess, Raratonga, Kelly 7.0. Royal Appellant will need to show improvement to hold Yogi, who seems at present to have a mort* gage on the race. It is unusual to sec a three-year-old so far up in the weights but his record merits the impost. Proud Fox will be a definite second choice. Gold Vaals has recent winning form and may extend his record further. He appears to, be leniently treated Avith 8.1. BronAven docs not appeal the distance and. Jack Tar seems tt> have lost form. Pocket Venus is a distinct possibility but should be held by the consistent MintlaAA*. Kena Avould appreciate an easing of the ground but Te KaAviti may be dangerous. Foxsen, after her shoAvings in the Oaks and Leger at Ellerslie, has every chance. Raratonga appeals most of the others. Popular selections may be Yogi Proud Fox Foxsen 2.44— OAKLEY HANDICAP Of £225; two year olds; 5 fur Queen City 9.0; Dinky Di 8.12; Mysito, Chain Acre 8.5; Lovaals 8.4; Surpai 8.3; Belle Femlne 8.0: Water Hound, Raoul, Corot, Laughing Fox 7.6; Sure Pay 7.5; Gay Ros ette 7.1; Airport, Hoi*eke, Court Favourite, Tea Blossom 7.3; Landsman, Little Willonvx 7.2; Auburn Lad, Golden Bonnet, Foxmint, Beau coup, Bronze Bird, Maori Star, King Louis 7.0. Here again selections will take a Avide range. Queen City Avill be knocking at the door and so will Dinky Di, Mysito, Chain Acre, Lovaals, Surpai, Belle Femme, Sure Pay, Gay Rosette, Horeke and Auburn Lad. Mysito seems to have it and it Avilil be a great battle for the other pla-cings. Favourites may include Mysito Surpai Queen City
3.30— RAILWAY HANDICAP Of £325; 6 furlongs. Kathbella 9.10; Orelio 8.7; Pirate King 8.4; Lornacre 8.4; Bronze Moth 7.13; Palustre 7.11; Blonde Princess 7.10; Brazilian 7.4; Brazen Bold 7.1; Trilliarch, Miss Te Kouraj Aero King 7.0. Kathbella may find her weight troublesome but this event should give Orelio his chance. Pirate King makes no appeal and at the weights a. better prospect is Lornacre. Bronze Moth is very likely and another sure to make a prominent showing is | Palustre. Blonde Princess will be well supported. Those near and on the minimum appear to be over- j shadowed and most confidence may be reposed in Orelio Bronze Moth Kathbella 4.14— WHAU HANDICAP Of £225; 1 mile Tea Gong 10.0; Silver Cloud 9.3; Royal Message 8.13; Silver Stick 8.11: Forest Acre 8.11; Hunto 8.10; Dauber 8.9; Serenata 8.7; Raepata, Kilcash 8.6; Princess Val 8.1; Hunt ing Bee 8.0; Mio FratoUo 7.12; Fox toon 7.11; First Gold Money 7.9: Hackcnsohmidt, Pantheist, Beverlej* 7.7. "Tea Gong lias a welter weight, and it would not surprise to see him scratched. Silver Cloud is used to the weight and should run prominently. Royal Message may be in the hunt but Silver Stick is another doubtful starter. Forest Acre will be making a re-appearance after a long spell. Hunto will have most of the field behind him at the finish. Dauber is not as likely as any of the next five. Foxtoon and First Gold Money appeal most of the remainder, and it will be remembered that the former's first and only win was gained on this coursc over the same distance. Popn lar fancies may be Hunto Serenata Foxtoon
5.0— TITIRANGI HANDICAP j Of £175; 1 mile Full Hand 8.8; Foxmond 8.0; Very Glad 7.12; Silver Eagle, Greelc Queen 7.10; Clipper 7.8; Eastern Heir, Susan, Silver Quex 7.8; Armaeourt, MoiivAcre, Vaalso, Land Girl, Respectful,'-Ivy Willonvx, General Ruse, Day Wind, Noitarcj 7.7. Full Hand will be prominent hut if in condition and tlvc mood his half sister, Foxmond should hold him. Very Glad is good at the distance and the next two also have bright prospects. Clipper will be running on at the finish and on his showing at Paeroa Eastern Heir may take some heading. Susan is racing well and will be accorded support but preference may be shown for Silver Quex, whose winning turn is due. Vaalso and Noitaro appeal 1 but the most likely seem to be Foxmond Greek Queen Silver Quex RIDING ENGAGEMENTS i U | jh it, Riding engagements announced for the first day of the Avondale Jockey Club's autumn meeting today arc as fellows: —■ A.
