RETURNED SOLDIERS

UNFINANCIAL MEMBERS OF association BADGES TO BE HANDED IN At a recent meeting of the Dominion Executive of the New Zealand Returned Soldiers' Association i,t was decided to purchase Grown Date attachments for affixing to the N.Z.R.S.A. Badges of all financial members. These Crown Date attachments are to be of a distinctive colour and "will bear the year date (i.e. 19-10). In order t.hat the issue of thesj j may be safeguarded the Dominion Executive Committee decided that instructions be issued to all branches to recover N.Z.R.S.A. badges from all unfinancial members. To assist branches in this task, the following rules from the N.Z. R.S.A. Constitution are quoted: "46 (d) All badges are the property of the New Zealand Returned Soldiers' Association and the local Associations will do all in their power to secure the return to this Association (the N.Z.R-S.A.) of the Badge of any individual member when he ceases to be a member of a local Association. "16 (i) Each local Association . . . shall make provision giving its secretary or other accredited officer power to call upon the -wearer of a Badge for production of evidence showing his authority to wear same." In addition to the above provisions we would advise that legal pioceedings were taken sometime back for recovery of the N.Z.R.S.A. Badge, from an ex-service man who ceased to be a member at his own request. Judgment was given in favour of the N.Z.R.S.A. for possession of the Badge with costs. (Details of this case arc available should the necessity arise.
