EASTER HOLIDAYS
FINE WEATHER PREDOMINATES LARGE CROWD AT OHOPE The threatened depression failed to materialise, and Easter 1940 will be remembered for its bright sunny days, and ideal holiday conditions. Whakatanc had its full quota of visitors, while Ohope Beach was thronged again, giving the foreshore an appearance rcminescent of Christmas. The annual Presbyterian Bible Class rally took place at, Ohope, and lasted the entire week-end, a special series of services being* conducted in the new hall. Representatives from all centres in the Bay of Plenty attended and the rally has been described as one of the most successful in the history of the movement. Tourists and campers from all parts were present at the camping ground, the Mayor of Hamilton, Mr H. D. Caro, being included in the number. Interviewed on Monday he stated that he regarded Ohope as the finest beach in the North Island bar none. The possibilities of the place, he said, are enormous and he had no hesitation in saying that in years to come it would be without a rival. Excursions to Whale Island twere made by a number of cral't from 1 Whakatanc, those participating reporting excellent conditions and good fishing. Another party, more adventurous still made White Island on Easter Sunday reporting that the place "was particularly active and well worth the trip.
