TIMBS—PATTERSON % BRIDE IN IVORY SATIN Knox Presbyterian Church* was the scene of a pretty and distinctivc wedding on Saturday last when / Muriel Agnes, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs John Patterson of Whakatane, Avas married to Vernon, younger son of Mr and Mrs Cyril Timbs of Whakatane. The Rev. J. G. Laugliton officiated and Miss Hobin played the Avedding music,. The church, Avhich was Avell filled Avitli friends and well-Avishers of both parties, liad been tastefully decorated and made an effective background for the bridal partj. The bride Avho Avas given aAvay b'y > her father Avorc a becoming goAvn of ivory stencilled satin, the full skirt flowing into a graceful train. Her veil of embroidered tulle was held neatly in place by a top-knot of orange blossom, w|ftjiwij|£hc carried a sheaf of summeiMltfv&prs and maidenhair fern. She Avas supported by Misses Jean and Minnie Patterson, her sisters, AA r lio Avore attractive creations of apple-green net OA*er taffeta. Their headdresses Avere matching veils of the same tone, and they carried bouquets of blending tints. Mr Howard Righton attended as * best man and Mr Hubert Cutler as groomsman. Messrs E. Wilson and O. Roulston carried out the duty of ushers. The couple receiA r ed a warm reception at the church door Avhere a large crowd of friends showered them liberally Avitli confetti. Later at the reception, which was held in the Parish Hall, Mrs Patterson received her guests in a smarß rust-coloured frock Avith matching A accessories. Her posy Avas composed of Autumn tints. She was assisted by Mrs Timbs Avho Avore a frock hat,, accessories and bouquet to tone. Over a hundred guests . attended the occasion marking the linking together of two avell-known and widely respected business families. The ReA r . Laughton made an excellent toastinaster and in proposing the health of the newly weds referred to the fact that the day marked the Centennial of the Treaty of Waitangi, and also the new pact which had been made that day betAveen the two young people who had been Avedded. He Avished them all future success and happiness. The bridegroom responded. Other toasts Avcrc: The Bridesmaids,' the Bridegroom and the Best Man, 'The Bride's Parents* Mr McEldowney and Mr Patterson Snr., 'The Bridegroom's Parents' Mr Mortensen and Mr Timbs, Snr.„ 'Absent Friends' Mr Gordon, 'Officiating Minister' Mr Doug Patterson and Rev Laughton. Mr and Mrs Timbs who were the recipients of many valuable and useful presents left later on their honeymoon Avhich AA'ill include a tour of the North Island. On their return they AA'ill make their future home in Whakatane.
