OHINEMURI MEETING
ACCEPTANCES FOR TO-MORROW CHANCES OF GOLD VAALS Exceptionally good fields are carded for the first day of the Ohine nmri Jockey Club's Autumn Meeting at Paeroa to-morrow. Such fields have not accepted on the country circuit for some time, A surprise acceptance is Lou Rosa in tlie two year old scamper, but this may be in the nature of a work-out for the Champagne Stakes. Despite a win against fairly strong company at Tauranga, Cold Vaals will have to be at his best to hold Beau Repaire in the Cup. Gold Vaals has it in his favour that he is trained on the course and has won there. Added to that is the fact thatj he is in the pink of condition and his chances must be highly rated. Following are the details, with a review of the prospects:— 12.0: KARANGAHAKE HANDICAP. Of £200; 5 fur. Lou Rosa 10.2; Queen City 9.5; Ringling 9.0; Dinky Di 8.8; Kinder garten 8.5; Sure Pay 7.8: Pacifist, Otoro, Dorset, Sister 7.5; Belle Femme 7.2; Mi' k ;s Jose, Golden Bonnet, Onet/yu, Bronze Bird 7.0./ • 10.2 is a weight likely to trouble ij'lie bri'lHant Lou Rosa and he has not raced for some time. However, he has every chance. Queen City has been working well and Ringling will be one of the leading division. Dinky Di will be troublesome over the distance and the best of the others are Kindergarten, Sure Pay, Pacifist, Dorset and Belle Femme. A surprise is likely from the wellbred Miss Jose i-f she has got ovei her barrier shyness. Popular fancies may be Lou Rosa Queen CityKindergarten
12.45: HANDICAP HURDLES Of £200: l 1 miles Jewelled Girdle 10.8; Glen Abu 10.4; Te Hai 10.3; Charcot 9.13; Celtic Lad 9.11: Royal Bachelor 9.9; King Musk 9.9; Chikara 9.5; Race Boy 9.4; Mio Generale, Aintree, Eka Pai, Little Ruse, Midland 9.0. Jewelled Girdle has not raced for some time and may need a run. Glen Abb appeals on Pukekohe form and Te Hai should not be out of it if he jumps at all well. Charcot has demonstrated that he is eapabfe and Celtic Lad may have improved. Royal Bachelor is making his debut as a hurdler after disappointing as a sprinter and there is no line on his jumping ability. King Musk will have a strong following despite his failure at Tauranga and Chikara, if started in this event will not lack support. The best of the others appears to be Mio Generale and the improving Midland. Public choice may be Glen Abb King Musk Midland i 1.30: AWAITI HANDICAP Of £200; 6 fur Hackenschmidt 8.8; Mandalay 8.3; Te Haka 8.3; Glenbevau, Maereana 8.2; Town Survey 7.13; Flying Eagle, Esquire 7.11: Rose Acre. Miss Ridicule, The Alibi, Akanora, Venture, Tea Drop, Lady Bambury. Fine Lady, Lord AVaitangi, Nith mount 7.9. A field of eighteen makes selection rather difficult and the turning course gives the best chance to those Avith the ability t.o jump out well and reach the front. Mandalay is on the improve and Te Haka appeals as very likely. Glenbevan must be conceded a chance but Mac reana appears to be out of it. Flying Eagle is a possibility. This geld--1 ni> ran a good third on this course in the Spring, finishing in front of Mandala.y. Lady Bambury is possible but the favourite maj" be. Te Haka Flying- Eagle Mandalay 2.15: OHINEMURI CUP HANDICAP Of £700; 1. mile and 3 fur King Rey 9.3: Bjau Repaire 8.7: 7.11; Raana 7.10; Gamos 7 -i0: Gold Vaals 7.8; Mintlaw 7.7: Raeteamp 7.5; Philcourt 7.2; E;"-t-Heir 7.0.
King Rey beat quite of few of these over the same distance at Te Rapa and should prove nearly as hard to head on this occasion. The horse most likely to trouble him is Beau Repaire, from whom great things were expected, at Te Aroha. A bruised heel kept him out of the Herries Memorial but shouldl lie be fit for Saturday, will be hard to beat. Hot Box has performed well on i.uis course but has no recent form and a better pi*ospect is Raana, finishing on at the end of 1% miles at Tauranga. Gamos has every opportunity of repeating" his Merries Memorial victory and is a distinct possibility. Mintlaw on his Thames, Te Aroha and Pukekohe form looks all over a winner but the bends may not be to his liking. Racccamp's chances arc assessed highly in some quarters and he has it to recommend him that he beat ali but King Rey in the Storey Memorial. However, Philcourt has the same chance. Eastern Heir, should he win. will surprise more than the two or three investors likely to support him. It is a difficult race to pick but it looks like Beau Repaire Gold Vaals Mintlavy 3.0: NETHERTON HACK HDCP Of £250; 9 fur Wildorc 9.3; Royal Message 9.0; Silver Cloud 8.12; Kilcash 8.7; Prin cess Val, Raepata 8.3; Sunny Downs Hunting Bee 8.2; First Gold Money 7.9; Krination, Philemup, Pantheist Captain Bell 7.7. Wildorc will go well. Royal Message has not done anything sensational since winning the second division of the, Robinson Handicap at the Auckland Summer Meeting and the distance may not be to his liking. Silver Cloud, on Tauranga form, looks the winner but the next three on the list are likely to trouble her. The best' of the others is Hunting Bee and First Gold Money. Backers may prefer Silver Cloud Wildore Princess Val 3.45: McGUIRE STEEPLECHASE HANDICAP Of £200; about 2% miles Red Sun 10.10; Lucidus 10.8; Wasp 10.5; (Jar Vaals, Forest Glow 10.4; Royal Abb 10.3; Tutor 9.6; Chikara 9.5; Bells of Bow 9.1; Race whip, Seneta„ Battle Pomp, Holme Fell, Fastaway, Sockcttes 9.0. Red Sun may find his weight too much but Lucidus is equal to it and won well on the same course in the Spring over three miles. Wasp should be one of the first to finish and Gar Vaals, winner of the 2*4 miles Farmers' Steeplechase at Cambridge on Labour Day, Avill be difficult. to head. Forest Glow is getting on in years and will find it hard against younger horses. Royal Abb will have to be taken on trust but Tutor and Chikara, if the latter is reserved, will prove themselves. Bells of Bow does not appeal and the only likely lightweight is Senela, who ran second to Gar Vaals at Cambridge. Fancies \yill cover a wide range but most popular may be Gar Vaals Seneta Lucidus 4.30: ST. PATRICK'S HANDICAP Of £300; 6 fur Black Thread 9.6; Lornacre 8.7: Besiege 8.5; Orwere 8.4; Corato 8.0; Valimeen 7.12, Brazen Bold, Bronze Moth, Sunola 7.8; Olympus 7.6; Trilliarch 7.4; Very Glad .7.3; Palustre, Mon Acre 7.2; Tosh, Little ArtI Ist, Miss Te Koura, Te Takina, Day ! Wind 7.0. j This field is likely to cause many headaches among investors. Black Thread and Lornacre both won at 'Tauranga. Besiege may need a race but Orwere is always a possibility. Corato and Valimeen should be knocking at the dpor and the same :an be as justly said of the next "our. Palustre and Mon Acre are the most likely of the lightweights 'nit Te Takina, mailing her first ap Dearnnce in open company, has te be considered. Favourites may Ik? Corato Orwere Bk.ck Thread
5.15: KOMATA HACK HANDICAP Of £250; G fur Merry Vaals 9.8; Town Section 9.8; Anion, Pasture 8.12; Spearford 8.10; Estro 5.9; Kakarere, Hunter's Night 8.4; Hunter's 'Rose, Sir Tommy Tellsom, Lady Clorane 8.3; Valerian 8.1; Fairfield, British Nation 7.12; Mayfair 7.11; Bronze Emerald 7.9; Joan Peel, AVyndora, Tavern Song, Royal Fawkes 7.7. Merry Vaals was beaten a neck by Estro on the second day at Tauranga. Merry Vaals carries the same weight now but Estro will have three pounds more and will not find it so easy. Anion has been very disappointing and a better prospect may be Pasture. Spearford has failed in his latest races but may have improved. Kakarere does not appeal but Hunter's Night and Hunter's Rose arc likely, with preference for the latter. Carrying 7.8, Tellsom beat quite a few in this field at Pukekohe. but the rise of nine pounds may steady him. Lady Clorane is the most to trouble the top-weight, and Fairfield, also a winner at Tc A roll a, will be well in the hunt. Bronze Emerald and Joan Peel look the best of the others. The public may sum up for Lady Clorane Merry Vaals Estro Acceptances for the second day. will be published in Monday's BEACON.
