STAR GETS GOLDEN WELCOME
Mickey Rooney is the proud possessor of a gold nugget, the gift of citizens of Sacramento, as a souvenir of his location trip to the state capital for scenes in ''I he Adventures of Huckleberry Man." 1 lie nugget, a replica of the first found in California, Avas given him at an olTicial welcome. The nearby city of Stockton also turned out to honour the boy star. As his train passed through on the trip home more than 2500 school children greeted him at the station. Mickey made a speech from the rear platform. Flowers were tossed into the train by the school group and the boy star was presented with a small silver boat inscribed with the rirectings of the Port of Stockton Celebrating his iirst solo starring role, Mickey bought the first shotgun he has ever owned. When the "Huckleberry Finn" company started for location on the Sacramento River, Mickey, seeing other members of cast and crew taking guns for duck hunting, bought a gun, persuaded Clark Gable to take him to a skeet range and teacli him marksmanship and bagged a of birds.
