FIFTH ANNUAL FLOWER SHOW OVER 700 ENTRIES 1 The fifth annual Flower Show was held in the Waimana Hall last Thursday by the Waimana-Nuku-hou Women's Institute. The function was quite a success in every way. The number of entries exceeded 700, equal to the previous year, which was most satisfactory. The Challenge Cup donated by Mr F. J. Savage for annual competition fox* the most points gained by any competitor throughout the Slvow,. was won by Mrs G. Hewitt, and Mrs T. W. Wardlaw received a Miniature of the Challenge Cup for 1939. Mrs 11. Blade was runner-up and received a Cup donated by Mr H. Wardlaw. The Challenge Cup i\>r most points gained by a school child, was donated by Mr N. Eagle, and was won by Ngaire Mitchell; and Beryl Flint and Agnes Wati, winners for 1939 received Miniatures donated by Mrs A. Eagle and the Institute. Mrs F. The music f.vas played by Mrs King and Miss Agnes Ruff kindly obliged with extras. Mr H. Wardlaw capably acted as M.C. and Mr Morton'-acted as doorkeeper. The novelty dances were quite 'popular. The groceries for competition were won by Mr \ . Addison . and Miss C. Doran and a box of chocolates went to Mr R. Bell. After a dainty supper had been . served, Mr F. J. Savage thanked all ; those who had helped in any way at all to make the show the success
it was, and then called for three cheers for the Women's Institute. Mr Savage then presented the Cups and special prizes, and he especially thanked the donors ofv same, which were much appreciated. The show committee, wish to thank those gentlemen who so kindly helped to erect the benches and assisted in dismantling them.
