SWIMMING

WHAKATANE SCHOOL CHAMPIONSHIPS The annual swimming championships of the Whakatane School were hold on Monday afternoon. The course was a twenty-live yard stretch between the olcl -wharf and a punt moored to the bank upstream. Though the weather was bright, a strong, cool -wind caused competitors to shiver and broke the surface of the -water sufficiently to make conditions hard, at times for the youthful swimmers.
