WHAKATANE SCHOOL CHAMPIONSHIPS The annual swimming championships of the Whakatane School were hold on Monday afternoon. The course was a twenty-live yard stretch between the olcl -wharf and a punt moored to the bank upstream. Though the weather was bright, a strong, cool -wind caused competitors to shiver and broke the surface of the -water sufficiently to make conditions hard, at times for the youthful swimmers. The bank and the old wharf were lined with school children, parents, teachers and some .spectators and competitors lacked nothing 911 the score of loud verbal support. ..... All events -were run to schedule and the results are as under.
