LOVE IN CAR
humorous taumaruniji INCIDENT Tragedies and disasters are neverwithout a humorous incident. When the occupants of residence at thfefar end of Turaki Street in Taumarunui were leaving their home-waist-higli in water, they were surprised to see a motor car parked on the street near the tennis courts. The car was standing in about three feet of water and the young; men who were assisting the family to escape from their home waded: over and opened the car door,, not. knowing what to expect, but imagine the shock to their senses when they discovered a young couple totally oblivious of the fact that,., like the Ark, they were completelysurrounded by water. The young men asked the couplehow long they intended to remaia in the trance and then the motorists awoke to the fact, at last, that there was about four inches of water already in the car. When th&couple shook themselves together they found it was impossible to. start the car, and they had to stepout into the water waist-high and .help push the old bus through the* flood.
