NELSON'S HEIRS STILL PAID
Lord Nelson' heirs have received £770,000 since 1805, and one is still receiving £5000 a year. This was revealed in the House of Commons by Mr Davidson, a Labour member. The Government in 180G, after the victory or Trafalgar, granted Nelson's fami'y a perpetual pension The present Lord Nelson* is t!u4 Admira"s 82 year old great-great nephew. He receives 00D a year and lives in a Wiltshire mansion, where he indulges in the hobby of interior decoration. Mr Davidson asked the Commons to investigate the pension in the 'interests of national economy, but 'the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Sir John Simon, replied that he saw no reason to do so. Mr Davidson initmntert that he intended again to raise the issue. Nelson was lulled at the battle of Trafa'gar, in which 21 British ships routed 38 French aul Spanish, sinking 10 and capturing the enemy admirals.
