MAKETU MEMORIAL
A GREAT EFFORT The amount of money raised by tlie Maketu Centennial Committee in connection with the recent Maketu celebrations, for ilie Memorial and work on the newly-formed parade to the memorial, was £1050. This sum carries with it a £1 for £3 subsidy. The committee responsible for this fine effort needs every congratulation. From the beginning every member Avorked hard, and the Maori residents of Maketu backed the committee enthusiastically, both financially ant l otherwise. In June last, months before the official open ing, over £90 in cash Avas received from the Maoris of Maketu alone.
