AUSTRALIAN FARMERS

VISIT TO TE PUKE Two young Australian farmers, Harold Chappcll and Percy Marshall. residents of Lake Gi*acc. West ern Australia, who ( came over on a visit to the Centennial Exhibition, and tour of New Zealand, arrived in;the Paengaroa district on Monday last. These young farmers, who are in their early >-20 s, were m£t at Paengaroa on Monday afternojpn by representatives of the Young Farmers* Gluib v who conveyed them for their first insight into the district's farming methods, to Mr A. E. Spratt's farm. After an interesting survey of the property and stock the 'young men were escorted back to Mr and Mrs F. Walter's homestead where they spent the night. Sociability and entertain mqmt Avere not to be denied, for Mr and Mrs J. B. Gawte had arranged a party for the evening, and had' invited members of the Young Farmers' . Club and their sisters along to their home. A most enjoyable time was spent in playing Monopoly and ping pong. A sumptuous supper was served by Mrs Cawte and her daughter Barbara. The high-light of the evening was a ping pong match between "Dad and Dave" (Mr Cawte and Percy Marshall) . On Tuesday morning the guests were taken along to Mr Riddell s farm, where they inspected the fine Jersey herd, and afterwards brought to Te Puke r.nd courteously shown over the Dairy Factory by Mr T. R. McCarthy, the manager., In the afternoon the visitors were taken along to the N.Z. Loan and Mercantile yards when the sale was in progress, and later to Messrs D. and S. Ross' farm. Rangiuru Road, where they stayed the night. The young men left for Hamilton on Wednesday, expressing thanks for the kindness extended them, and the most enjoyable time they hacl had.
