THE WHAKATANE DIVISION

NEW SUPDT. APPOINTED The first parade of the local divii 1 sion for this year was held in Annstrongs' Ltd.. Show Room on Wednesday last. Unfortunately the organisation lost its superintendent, when Mr H. Fain left the district. As ft is the custom for a superintendent to nominate his successor on leaving Mr Ray Ferry has received the nomination which now has to be confirmed by headquarters. Mr Ferry is to be congratulated, as he has during the past season Avorked hard for the success of the Brigade against many difficulties, and is Avell Avorthy of the honour. He will still retain the position of secretary until Avord has been received. Dr Frazerhurst has offered to give the Brigade instruction in Air Raid Precautions Avhilst he is in the district and Avill attend a parade within the next few Aveeks. During the evening instruction was gi\ 7 en by Mr Stan Miller in stretcher drill, also the use of a modern first aid kit Avas explained by Mr Ferry Avho illustrated with one of the Brigade's field kits. New members Avere enrolled and it Avas decided to hold the parades every Tuesday night at 8 p.m. in Armstrongs' Slioav Rooms, and it is hoped to haA r e an efficient Brigade, Avell trained, to be able to do duty for the local Centennial Celebrations. Armstrongs' Ltd. are to be thanked for placing their show rooms at the disposal of the Brigade for practise. The brigade still requires new members to bring it up to full strength and all holders of First Aid Certificates are invited to join.
