RED CROSS SOCIETY
WHAKATANE SUB-CENTRE SUB-COMMITTEES APPOINTED At a meeting of the General Committee held in the Borough Chambers on Wednesday evening Mrs W., Sullivan presided over Mr 13. S. Barry, Mesdames Lux ton, Prideaux, Tippett, Fraser, Caulton, Suckling, Ramson Senr., Gray, W. Bridgcr, Alan Bridger, Sloane, Rangi, E. Armstrong, Buddie, Morcam, Soutliey, Littlejohn, Rowan, Appleby, H. Armstrong, P'earse, and Misses Tippett and Greenup. Apologies were received from Mr Carr and Mesdames Savage, Moriee, FletcherCole, Roberts and Harding. St. John's Ambulance Association having intimated that they were unable, at the moment, to co-oper-ate Avith the Red Cross in the formation of a Joint Council, it was decided that the Red Cross Society would proceed with the work for the Sick and Wounded and Avould form a Joint Council with St John's Avhen they are ready to do So. The following sub-committees Avere set up to Avork for the Sick and Wounded, all having power to add to their strength:
Red Cross Shop Committee: Mesdames Sloane (convenor), Suckling, Morice, Tippett, Lnxton, Prideaux, Alan Bridger, W. Bridger, Rangi, Rowan, Goode, Fraser, Hayter, Jarrett, Miles Hamill and Miss Tippett. Sewing Committee: Mesdames Ramson Senr (convenor), Tippett, Appleby, H. Armstrong, Southey, Buddie, Littlejohn, Dixon, Coulton, Grayling, Otley and Searle. Knitting Committee: Mesdames Buddie (convenor), Morcara, Gray, Ramson Senr., Prideaux, W. Bridger and Grayling. Entertainment Committee: Mesdames Alan Bridger (convenor), James. E. Armstrong, Littlejohn, Appleby, H. Armstrong, Pearsc, Bullard and Miss Tippett. Comforts Committee: Mesdames Sullivan (convenor), T. W. James. To be added to later. If there are any other Whakatane ladies who are willing to assist in this most worthy cause, would they communicate with the convenor of the sub-committee in which they are most interested.
