CHILD DROWNED

accident at otamarakau BODY SWEPT OUT TO SEA A fatality occurred yesterday when Alan Richardson, son of Mr and Mrs Richardson, sharemillters, •of Otamarakau, fell into the river. His body has not yet been recovered and it is presumed that it has been swept out to sea. With torrential rain in the district on Friday night and Saturday, with further heavy downpours on Saturday night, the river was unusually swollen and the Hood water increased the pace of the current. A search was conducted yesterday afternoon and throughout the night local residents and a police party 'uriiltv Sergeant M. Farrell of Whakatane. Up till time of going to press there had been no further news.
