SCHOOL ACCOMMODATION
Parents of school children will find some re-assurance in the recent communication received by the local committee from the Department which shows complete agreement with the recent representations made for greater accommodation From this, we glean that the authorities have taken a sympathetic attitude towards Whakatane's school needs and that something jvill be done in the immediate future to relieve the overcrowding. It is to be hoped that the department in preparing plans for the new buildings will also give full consideration to the future requirements of the school. As a growing town Whakatane will demand a school capable of catering for the town's needs for many years to come. From an economic standpoint it is imperative that all specifications should be based upon comparative figures of the past, thus avoiding the annoying and expensive necessity of perpetual small enlargements in future.
