PARADE POSTPONED
| CIVIC FAREWELL CEREMONY DATE TO BE FIXED LATER Owing to the difficulty in learning of the arrival of the men of the Second Echelon on final leave, the Citizens' Farewell Committee has been forced to cancel its arrangements for the parade and social gathering which was scheduled to take place on Saturday next. Information received yesterday was to the effect that although the date has not as yet been fixed the men may be expected home in two or three weeks time. WORD FROM MINISTER In response to urgent representations to the Minister for Defence, in answer to the Whakatane Farewell Committee's desire to know the exact date for the final leave, Mr F. W. Doidge, M.P., has received the following telegram: "Cannot at present state final leaye, but will undertake to give week's notice when date finally fixed ."
