INVITATION TO A PICNIC ONE COUNCILLOR WHO WILL NOT GO When an invitation from the Harbour Board to attend the Local Body members' picnic, to be held on Monday, March lith, was read at the Borough Council meeting on Monday night, Cr Sullivan said it would be more in keeping with the times if the Harbour Board would forego the excursion in favour of the Patriotic Funds. There was not enough benzine as it AA r as, this councillor pointed out, without public men Avasting it on picnics. When it was observed that the launch used did not operate on benzine, Cr Sullivan said that people attending would have to use benzine to get to the Avharf. Cr Shapley, however, thought thai a picnic had advantages, as it enabled the members of the various public bodies to get together., Cr Canning subscribed to this vieAV and expressed the opinion that there ought to be more picnics.
