MAORI MEMORIAL

INSCRIBED PLAQUE AT HEADS COMMEMORATING THE MATATUA CANOE I At a representative meeting of Maori elders during the week-end it was decided unanimously to erect a memorial plaque at the Heads, to mark the approximate landing place of the lamed Malatua canoe. The plaque will be inscribed in both pakelia and Maori and will be unveiled at the ceremony held in connection with the opening of the Centennial Park on March I'ith.
