NOTES AND COMMENTS (By Zetland) GOLDEN SHEILA RECOVERS Golden Sheila, who strained ; i muscle "while competing in the T< Awamutu Cup, and consequently , had to be placed on "the easy list' . has made a good recovery and i: , laii'm anions.; the tia.'k worke.s a Te Aroha.

RE-COMMISSIONED King Mask, who has been out of commission I'or some months, has Been purchased bj- Mr R. M. Tayjlor, of Te Aroha, and is working freely on the 'training' tracks. THE TAKAPUNA CUP This month's Takapuna Cup is to be run over a distance of eleven furlongs. At the head of the list is the Auckland Cup winner, Cheval de Voice, 9.0 and lie is followed by Koyevrus and King Hey 8.12. They finished in second and fourth places. The latter in that race was conceding the winner Gibs, where lie now has 21b less. It >\vould thus appear tliat at last King Hey is being treated a little more leniently than usual. Koyevrus, a very consistent customer, but who does not race well on a hard track, Avill have to be considered. Koyal Appellant 8.8 won the A.R.C. Handicap in good style, and will be one of the early favourites. Fils de Vaals 8.7 will find the distance to his liking, but Beau Repaire 8.7, now competing at Trenchant, may not sec the post at Ellerslie. The Cardinal 7.9, will again be to put up a good performance, but may or may not be in the humour. Pirate King 7.8 must be considered to be well treated with lOlbs less than allotted him in the Goldfields Cup, and if he should prevail at Parawai he. will be awarded quite a substantial re-han-dicap. Smith's successful Takanini stable will rely on Proud Fox 7.5 in this race, and he may be one of the principal selections on the day. Sacconc with 7.6 should run a very solid race. Pending the acceptances the favourite division may includt Roycvrus, Fils de Vaals, Royal Appellant and Proud Fox.
