EXHAUSTED SEA BIRDS

Exhausted by the wind a full grewn gannet landed on the dunes at Ohope last Sunday morning. The bird, was apparently too weak to even hobble to shelter but not too far gone to deliver some lively peeks to a well-meaning resident who endeavoured to lift it to safety. Later the bird was captured and put in a box and fed. It was released the following morning and speedily took to the air. At the Heads on Sunday a number of boys found a young penguin in the last stages of exhaustion and rescued it. The little fellow was lively enough when picked up and one lad bears a painful evidence of its struggles. It too was set free when the storm abated.
