WEDDING BELLS

HOOPER—HOLLARD

A pretty wedding took place at the Methodist Church, Opotiki, on 27tli December, when Ngaire Hild-i, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs C. J. Hoi lard, Woodlands, was married to Herbert Stephen, fourth son of Mr and airs H. G. Hooper of Gisborne. The bride, who was given away, by her father, Avore a beautiful gown of parchment angel-skin, lace over satin, cut on classical lines, the front panel and peter pan collar being of satin. The beautifully embroidered veil (worn by the bride's mother at her Avedding) fell from a halo of orange blossom over the circular train. She carried a sheaf of Christmas lilies. Attending the bride were Miss Alma Burnett of Nukuhou, and Miss Phyllis Joblin, who Avore frocks of azure blue organdie, with yokes and wide hems of floral organdie, and blue circular veils. They carried bouquets of pink and blue larkspur and carnations. Little Beryl Norris, of Eltham, cousin of the bride, attended as (lower girl', wearing a dainty ankle length frock of azure blue organdie with ruckings, and a sash of blue satin ribbon. She carried a pink and bine posy. The bridegroom AA T as attended by his brother, Mr 3VL Hooper, as best man, and Mr V. Hurrey as. groomsman. -• - About 75 guests were afterwards entertained at the home of the brfde's parents, where they were received by Mrs Hoi lard Avho chose a frock of navy blue embroidered cloque, with accessories to tone. Mrs Hooper 'wore a black and white ensemble. A handsome wedding cake, made and decorated by the bridegroom's mother, occupied the place of honour at the bride's table. Later, the happy couple left on. an extended tour of the North Island, Mrs Hooper wearing a frock of violet flat crepe smocked, with accessories of white.
