FINE RESPONSE
LOCAL VOLUNTEERS FOR CAMP TRAINING FOR SECOND ECHELON As evidence of Whakatane s line response to the appeal for volunteers lor the second echelon three local men have already left for camp and it is understood that a further twenty or so will entrain on Friday. This number may be greatly increased as included among those who have received advice to report are some who enlisted lor Ihe first echelon, but who were classed as temporarily unfit. The recent change in policy, whereby those men requiring denial attention are now classed as f:t lor the purpose of enlistment, and who will receive .necessary treat men! while in camp, affects several W'iukalane men who joined up in September. " -*> As the very fine total of ttj.rtytwo attended for examination at the last sifting of the Medi ;al Board in Whakatane, it is proba'o e that this town's representation* in ..the second echelon wiil be greater than in lhe first. The Medical Board will be in Wha katane next Saturday, when a further forty men will be examined.
