Misses Alison and Ruth Garraway have returned from a motor tour of the Coromandel Peninsular. A Mr and Mrs G. G. Lucas and family are spending a vacation in Auckland. Mr and Mrs Roy Hop wood of Palmerston North are spending the holidays at Ohope Beach. Mr and Mrs L. Bennett of Soutar's Avenue are absent on holidays at Wellington. Mr and Mrs L. Edwards of Whakatane are spending a holiday in Auckland.

Visitors from this district to the \ (Centennial Exhibition at ton include Mr and Mrs PmTlMxon. Miss Betty Aird of Auckland is the guest of Mr and Mrs W. Clark of Paroa. Among those staying at the Commercial Hotel is Mr T. Gibling, of Great Barrier Island. Mrs E. Waugh of Auckland is staying with her daughter, Mrs H. V O. Stewart, Landing Road. Mr T. Morgan, Clerk of Court and Registrar of Births, Deaths, and / Marriages, at W-hakatane, has resumed his duties. Mrs N. A. Corcoran, of Hillcrest, is at present staying with her K mother, Mrs J. J. Ryburn, at • Ohaupo.

Mr and Mrs W. T. Dale of Te Aroha left recently for home after spending the vacation with Mr and Mrs Kingsley-Smith of Ohope. • r Mr and Mrs S. S. Shapley and Mr and Mrs Arthur Hall, of Whakatane, have returned from a visit to the Centennial Exhibition. Mr and Mrs Jim Davidson of Manawaru, Thames Valley, are the guests of Mr and Mrs B. Gotlrell, Stewart Street, Kopeopco. Messrs Horton Stewart and Mor- Y gan Wells, of Whakatane, returned to Trentham camp on Tuesday These two are in training as officers for the Maori Battalion. Mr and Mrs J. D. Rivett, of the Strand, accompanied by Misses Net- ip lie and Phyllis Rivett, will leave Whakatane to-morrow on their way to Wellington. Mr T. Brassey, Whakatane manager for W T right, Stephenson Ltd., toured as far North as the Bay of Islands during the holidays. Together with Mrs Brassey he returned to Whakatane on Tuesday.

Messrs Hamilton Morgan, of Hamilton, James Morgan of Auckland, A and Garth Morgan of Wellington, are spending their vacation with their parents Mr and Mrs T. Morgan, Clifton Road, Whakatane. Mr Dennis Clark who is home on leave from the Auckland Naval Base is spending a brief holiday with his parents Mr and Mrs W. M. Clark of Paroa. He returns on Tuesday next. The Attorney General Hon. H. G. R. Mason and Mrs Mason, arrived in Whakatane yesterday afternoon and spent the night at the Whakatane Hotel. The party left this morning.
