Did you know that the custom ot fljing a flag at halfmast as a sign of national mourning was derived from the old naval procedure of hoisting the colours of the victorious vessel above tiiose of the vanquished. Thus halfmasting the colours for a bereavement leaves room for death's invisible insignia acknow ledging Deaths temporary victory.
