WEDDING BELLS

GOODWIN— HALL

A wedding of widespread interest to a large circle of friends on th(* Rangitaiki Plains was solemnised at Edgeeumbe on Wednesday evening, December 20th in the Presbyterian Church, when Jean lalbot,. eldest daughter of Mrs E. Hall of Edgeeumbe, was married to Eric, eldest son of Mr H. Goodwin of Thornton. The officiating Minister was Rev G. J. Laughton, and Mr Fielder of Edgeeumbe officiated at the organ. The church had been decorated for the occasion by girl friends of the brides with bowls of Illlles and pink and blue hydrangeas and a beautiful floral wedding bell under which , the coujjiiet stood for the ceremony. The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr Reg. HalL, looked charming in a graceful gow r n of silver embossed satin cut on simple lines ter- . minating in a long oval train. Her embroidered tulle veil was worn with a Avreath of silver leaves and fell in graceful folds to forms, a second train, and she carried a shower sheaf of lillies and white dahlias. The three bridesmaids were Miss Josephine Hall, sister of the bride. Miss Ruth Goodwin, sister of the bridegroom, and Miss Iva Gunn of Rangiriri. They wore beautiful frocks of blue sheer cut on Princess lines with wreaths of silver leaves in their hair, and' carried of pink and blue delphiniums. > ' Attending the bridegroom were: Mr Ken Grant, best man, and. Mr J. Hall and Mr R. Goodwin as groomsmen. Immediately after the ceremony, Mrs T. W., James of Wha katane sang delightfully the solo "O Promise Me." A reception was held in the Edgeeumbe Hall, attended by over 120. guests Avho were received by Mrs Hall wearing a black ensemble antl carrying a bouquet of red roses. Mrs B. Dougherty, aunt of the bridegroom, acted as hostess antl received the guests at the hall. The hall had been beautifully decorated under the able direction of Mrs A. Martin, who also made the bouquets, with hanging baskets of pink roses, and bowls of blue delphiniums and hydrangeas. A twotiered diamond shaped wedding cake occupied the place of honour on the tables. The usual toastss were honoured and many telegrams and a cable of good wishes were. , read by Mr Iv. Grant. ' . The happy couple left later for a motor tour, with . the bc;§!tof their many friends. Mr and Mrs Goodwin will makes 1 their home at Thornton.
