PAYMASTER GENERAL TO FORCES MR F. PRIDEAUX'S APPOINTMENT Mr F. Pridenux, well known throughout Whakatane and the adjacent district i'or his activities in municipal, sporting and social activities lias received notice of his

appointment to the important position of Paymaster General to the N T e\v Zealand Forces overseas. Mr Prideaux will hold the rank of Major, though he lias in the past been Lieutenant-Colonel to the Hauraki Regiment and its commanding officer. He will sail with the lirst echelon and will leave Whakatane on New Year's Day. It is interesting to recall that during the last war Mr Prideaux had the distinction of acting as auditor general to the New Zealand forces.
