AWAKERI BRANCH
MONTHLY MEETING HELD
The monthly meeting of the Awakeri Branch ci the W.D.F.U. was held last Friday in the AAvakeri Hall, Mrs Luxton, the president, presided over a good attendance of mem bers.
A report of the executive meeting held recently was received and read by Airs HauHain.
Grants were made to the Rest Home at Palmerston North and for the Chinese refugee child in China.
Opportunity was taken to say farewell to two members who are leaving the district, Mcsdames Davies and Pain. Mrs E. C. Haul tain, "with a few fitting words presented both ladies with a shoulder spray. Two songs rendered by Mrs Armstrong were greatly appreciated. Mrs SutclifTe gave a very interesting talk on Fiji and it was enjoyed bv all present. Competitions were won as follows: Best llower, Mcsdames L. Luke i, McDonald 2, H. Luke 3. Collection of Xmas articles, Mesdames H. Luke 1, J. Graham 2, N. McGougan 3.
Afternoon tea was served by tlie hostesses Mesdames E. G. Haultain, McKenzie and Miss Moore, and the
afternoon was brought to a (dose by Mrs Luxton wishing all present the compliments of the season and on behalf of the members Mrs L. Luke returned the compliments.
