Mr H. Pain's successor as headmaster of the Awakeri school is Mr Kerr of Fitzroy, New Plymouth. Nurse B. Maxwell a well known member of the Tuiwharetoa tribe returns to her home in the Taupo district after her resignation from the nursing staff of the local hospital. She will further her nursing experiences abroad early in the New Year. Residents of Whakatane will be pleased to learn of the recent appointment of Mrs H. J. Ryde of Poro Poro to the position pf Welfare Officer for women and children. Mrs Ryde has been gazetted to operate in Whakatane and the outlying districts.
