FARMING CONDITIONS
MASS MEETING TO BE HELD
CONVENED BY TE PUKE F.U.
The question of taking direct action to impress upon the Government the dissatisfaction among farmers with their present conditions, was discussed at a meeting of the Te Puke branch of the Farmers' Union last week.
A number of varying opinions was expressed, and it was made plain that it was the desire of the farmers, if they were given the opportunity, to do their best to increase production. There was no indention of harassing the Government, ftnd it was pointed out that farmers would not quarrel with the guaranteed price if costs were controlled.
It was finally decided that the branch should support Mic resolutions carried at recent meetings of other branches, and that a mass meeting should be held at St. Andrew's Hall next Tuesday in order to discuss the position.
