DEATH IN CAR
ON WAY TO DOCTOR
INQUEST ADJOURNED
An inquest was lield on Saturdaymorning into the death -of Donald Philip Howell, aged S years, Avho ' died in the ear in which he was being taken to the doctor, on Friday : afternoon. The father of the boy, Rugby Augustine Howell, employed as a foreman by the Native Department at Pikowai, stated that the child Went to school as usual on Thursday morning and at that time was alright. fie returned at four o'clock and complained of a headache and pains in his stomach. During the night Uhe boy's condition became progressively worse and the father decided to go to Matata and get a car to take the boy to Dr Appleby, of Wha.kfltane, "He left with the child at 1 p.m. The boy seemed to be fading fast as he picked him up, but was still alive when placed in the car. It was Mr Howell's belief that his son died shortly after leaving the camp. The inquest was adjourned until this morning, when medical evi- • dence will be taken.
