OBITUARY
MRS M. M. HAYNES
The death has occurred of Mrs Margery Monteith Haynes, of* Whakatane, who was known to a wide circle of friends in this district and beyond. Born in Thames 36 years ago, Mrs Haynes received her t education at the Thames High School, going on later to Auckland where she took up nursing', and where later she was married. Coming to the Bay of Plenty fourteen years ago, the family settled first at Opotiki where Mr Haynes was employed by the Power Board. Eighteen months later they shifted to Whakatane, where they made their present home. Of a retiring nature Mrs Haynes was a great home maker and those who knew her revered her as a friend and neighbour. She leaves her husband, and three children, Coleman, Souter and Margery, for whom the greatest sympathy will be felt.
MR T. W. HENDRY
The death occurred last Wednesday afternoon o' Mr T. W. Hendry, a well-known and highly respected citizen of Opotiki. For thirteen years, Mr Hendry has been proprietor of the Opotiki Hotel. Born in Lyttelton, sixty-two years ago, Mr Hendry later went to Mercury Bay, where he spent many years, being well-known in that district as a bush contractor. Deceased later moved to Whakatane and then to Opotiki. The funeral took place on Friday morning, the cortege being a very long one. Deceased is survived by his widow, and one daughter, Mrs R. Mcllwraith, to whom the deepest sympathy is extended in their loss.
