MYSTERY WINNER

LAST ART UNION / The identity of the winner of the £2000 prize in the "One for Luck" art union remains a mystery, for it Is impossible to ascertain in Gisborne who is the holder of the winning ticket. Considerable excitement was caused in town when it became known that the first prize had come to Gisborne, especially when the name de plume was whispered about. Being a Friday night, the number of listeners to the broadcast results were comparatively few, and the nom de plume became distorted as it was passed from mouth to mouth, resulting in hopes being raised among many purchasers of tickets. Vendors' Hopes Raised. The vendors of the winning ticket were Messrs Hall and Knopwood, and one of the partners of the firm. Mr T. P. Hall, was one of those "who became keenly interested, for he was one of the several who had signed himself "Lots of Luck." His ticket, in fact, was only five from the winning number.

The winning ticket was the first in a series of books the firm had for sale, the book being the last of a hatch of eight. The members of the firm do not know to whom the ticlcet was sold but they believe that it went to a resident somewhere on the Coast. They had good cause to Temember the ticket and also the nom de plume, for the book lay on the counter for several days.
