L. R. SPRING A CENTURY HILLCREST AND P. AND T. WIN Another century, this time to L. R. Spring, Hillcrcst, was recorded on Saturday. The Hillcrest skipper was in an aggressive mood, scoring very freely. He gave only one hard chance in a fine knock. Boswell (68) Whakatane, a»4 Crawford (45 and (38 not out), P. arjjl T. also batted exceptionally wejl. THE SCORE BOARD Batting L. R. Spring 101 Boswell 65 W. Crawford 45 and 38 not out E. Thompson 36 Bowling Chard 5 wickets for 17 runs. Jefl'ares 5 wickets for 47 runs. Pai'ks 4 wickets for 34 runs. Spring 4 wickets for 62 runs. Hillcrest v Whakatane.
Although Hillcrcst scored 159, of which Spring contributed nearly two-thirds, they only sccured a win by the narrow margin of 11 runs, AVhakatane fighting very gamely until the last wicket fell and might easily have snatched a victory. E. Thompson (3G) also batted nice ly his partnership with Boswell troubling Hillcrest badly at one stage. Had any of the remaining batsmen been able to hold their end for an over or two victory might easily have gone AVhakatane's way. JefTares deserves credit for excellent bowling. He claimed five wickets with consistently good length balls. Details were : Hillcrest (First -Innings)

P. and T. v Central
Chief interest in this game which was played on the Central wicket was centred on the performance of AV. Crawford, a newcomer from;Tc Aroha who played for the P .and T. He certainly lived up to the favourable advance reports by scoring Ifj and 38 not out. A good all-rounder he Avill be a distinct asset to the club. P. and T. scored 100 in their first innings to which Central replied with 52. Chard's consistency with theba!! was again evident, this player capturing 5 wickets for 17 runs off 12 overs (1 maiden).
